Revolut
Revolut is a London-based financial app and bank that offers accounts, cards, investing and custodial crypto trading to 68 million retail customers.
Also known as Revolut Ltd · Revolut Bank · Revolut X
The short answer
Crypto is one product among many: in the UK it is run by Revolut Ltd under an FCA anti-money-laundering registration, and in the EEA by a Cyprus company licensed under MiCA since October 2025. As of October 2026, UK customers on the free plan pay 1.49% per crypto trade, falling with plan and volume. The main caveat is that crypto held in the app sits in pooled accounts in Revolut's name, with no deposit-scheme protection, and US customers cannot use it.

What Revolut is and who runs it
Revolut is a financial app that started in 2015 as a multi-currency card for travelers and now offers current accounts, savings, loans, stock trading, crypto, insurance and business accounts. Nik Storonsky is co-founder and chief executive. Its 2025 annual report, released on 24 March 2026, gives 68.3 million retail customers, 767,000 business customers, $6.0 billion in revenue and $2.3 billion in profit before tax.
Revolut says it operates as a licensed bank in more than 30 of its 40 markets. In the UK that is Revolut Bank UK Ltd, authorised by the PRA; in most of the EEA it is Revolut Bank UAB in Lithuania. It filed for a US national bank charter in March 2026. The group is privately held.
Crypto revenue is not broken out. It falls inside the Wealth line, which the annual report puts at $876 million for 2025 across stocks, crypto and other investments. Revolut has no exchange token of its own.
How Revolut crypto works
Inside the main Revolut app, customers buy and sell crypto at a rate Revolut sets from the prices exchanges offer it, plus a trading fee shown before confirming. The EEA site says more than 300 tokens are available. Revolut X, a standalone app that launched across the EEA in November 2024 according to Decrypt, is an order-book exchange for more active traders with its own fees, which this profile does not cover.
Crypto in Revolut is custodial. The UK cryptocurrency terms say Revolut acts as the customer's nominee: it holds legal title, the customer is the beneficial owner, and the coins sit in pooled accounts with other customers' coins. Revolut may appoint sub-custodians, with whom the customer has no contract. Customers can still move BTC, ETH and more than 30 other tokens to and from outside wallets, and can buy straight into an external wallet through a service called Revolut Ramp.
Which company provides the service depends on where the customer lives. EEA residents have been moved, or are being moved, to Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd, licensed by CySEC as a MiCA crypto-asset service provider (licence 001/2025). UK residents deal with Revolut Ltd, which the FCA has registered for cryptoasset activity under the money laundering rules. The UK terms say that registration covers anti-money-laundering supervision only.
Revolut crypto fees
Revolut charges a percentage fee per trade that depends on the customer's paid plan and 30-day trading volume, or a minimum fee on small trades, whichever is higher. The table below is the UK schedule published by Revolut Ltd in October 2026; EEA pricing is set in local currency on the corresponding pages.
On trades under £200, minimum fees apply instead: on Standard and Plus they run from £0.99 to £2.99 by trade size, and a trade under £2 costs 50% of its value. Exchanges between fiat and stablecoins carry no percentage fee. The exchange rate itself is set by Revolut, and the fee page says market spread is already built into the quoted price.
Withdrawing crypto to an outside wallet costs a Revolut service fee of £1 for XRP, XLM, DOT, SOL, AVAX, XTZ, ALGO and ADA and £3 for other coins, plus a network fee. If the network fee Revolut quotes is more than it actually pays, it keeps the difference. For staking, the Revolut Ltd fee page allows a commission of 0% to 50% of rewards depending on the asset, while the EEA crypto page advertises staking with no platform fee from Revolut.
Our guide to what a $10,000 trade really costs shows how to compare a percentage fee with an exchange's maker-taker pricing.

Revolut plans and what they change for crypto
Every Revolut customer starts on a plan, and the plan sets the crypto fee rate. In the UK, as of October 2026, Standard is free, Plus costs £3.99 a month, Premium £8.99, Metal £16.99 and Ultra £60. In Ireland the same tiers cost €3.99, €9.99, €17.99 and €55 a month, the last an introductory price. The US offers only Standard, Premium at $9.99 and Metal at $16.99, none with crypto.
Beyond fees, the plans mostly differ in non-crypto benefits: travel and purchase insurance, airport lounges, higher limits for spending abroad and better savings rates. The UK fee page also says crypto exchanges count toward the fair-usage exchange limit for Standard and Plus customers. For someone whose main use is crypto, the useful question is whether the fee saving covers the subscription; at low volumes it rarely does, as the FAQ below works through.
Paying with crypto and the Revolut card
Revolut does not issue a separate crypto card. Customers switch an existing Revolut debit card to pay from a crypto balance, and the coins are sold at the point of purchase. The EEA crypto page says there is no conversion fee for paying with tokens, though the exchange rate at the time applies. The UK fee page says percentage fees do apply to crypto card spending under Revolut Ltd. Either way, each card payment from crypto is a sale, which can be taxable.
Revolut's loyalty scheme, RevPoints, sits alongside the card, but the crypto pages reviewed advertise no crypto cashback. For how a general-purpose card with crypto spending stacks up against dedicated crypto cards, see how Revolut compares with other crypto cards.
Where Revolut crypto is available
Revolut crypto is available to customers in the UK and the EEA, and the MiCA licence lets the Cyprus company passport its services across the EEA; France's AMF lists it on its white list of crypto-asset service providers under that passport.
It is not available in the United States. Revolut's US entity, Revolut Technologies Inc. in New York, offers prepaid cards issued by Lead Bank, savings through Cross River Bank and stocks through Revolut Securities, but the US crypto page now redirects to the homepage. According to tech.eu, Revolut's US chief executive has said crypto and stablecoin services are planned for a US bank targeted for 2027. A customer who changes country of residence has their 30-day trading volume reset.
Is Revolut crypto safe?
Revolut is a large, profitable and supervised group whose UK and Lithuanian entities are licensed banks. Crypto sits outside that banking protection. The UK terms state that crypto bought through Revolut is not protected by the FSCS or the Lithuanian deposit insurance scheme, and complaints about it are unlikely to fall within the Financial Ombudsman Service's remit.
The custody model means a customer holds a claim on Revolut, not coins on a blockchain address of their own. Revolut publishes no proof of reserves for crypto, and it names no sub-custodian in the terms reviewed. Moving coins to a wallet the customer controls removes that exposure; our guide on how to check an exchange holds your money covers what to look for.
Revolut has a record of compliance and security problems. In September 2022 a social-engineering attack exposed the personal data of 50,150 customers, according to its filing with Lithuania's data protection authority; Revolut said no funds were taken. In April 2025 the Bank of Lithuania fined Revolut Bank EUR 3.5 million for weaknesses in transaction monitoring, which Revolut acknowledged and said it had addressed.
How to withdraw crypto from Revolut
To send crypto out, a customer opens the crypto section of the app, picks the token, chooses Send to an external address, enters the address and network, and confirms; Revolut can require biometric approval. The app shows the full fee, service fee plus network fee, before confirmation and says it will not charge more than that quote. Transactions cannot be cancelled once accepted, and Revolut is not responsible for a wrong address.
Only some tokens on some networks can be withdrawn, so coins bought in the app are not always movable. Revolut also asks customers to verify ownership of wallets they send to or receive from. Selling to fiat and transferring to a bank is the alternative for tokens that cannot leave.
Revolut support
Revolut directs customers to in-app chat for questions, alongside a help center at help.revolut.com and a system status page. Paid plans get priority support, according to the plan descriptions. After the 2022 breach Revolut reminded customers, according to BleepingComputer, that it will not call or text to ask for login details or access codes. Anyone contacted by a caller claiming to be Revolut should hang up and use the in-app chat instead.

Questions people ask
Is Revolut crypto custodial?
Yes. Revolut holds the crypto as nominee in pooled accounts and the customer owns a beneficial interest, according to its UK cryptocurrency terms. The customer cannot sign transactions directly. Supported tokens can be withdrawn to an external wallet, which is the only way to hold the keys yourself.
Which Revolut plan has the lowest crypto fees?
Ultra, at £60 a month in the UK, which charges 0.49% on the first £10,000 of 30-day volume and 0% above £250,000. Premium and Metal start at 0.99%. Whether a paid plan saves money depends on volume: a customer trading £1,000 a month saves about £5 on Premium against Standard, less than the £8.99 plan fee.
Can I stake crypto on Revolut?
Yes, in the UK and EEA, for tokens including ETH, SOL and DOT. Revolut shows a net APY in the app, which its EEA page puts at up to 19%, variable. Under Revolut Ltd, Revolut may keep 0% to 50% of rewards as commission, and some networks also take validator fees. Staked assets carry slashing risk.
Why does a small crypto trade cost so much on Revolut?
Because minimum fees replace the percentage fee on trades under £200. On Standard and Plus, a £20 purchase costs £1.49, or 7.5%, and anything under £2 costs half its value. On Premium and Metal the minimum is £0.99 up to £50. Buying in larger, less frequent amounts avoids most of this.
