WhiteBIT
WhiteBIT is a centralized crypto exchange founded in 2018 by a Ukrainian team, part of W Group, with a MiCA-authorised EU arm based in Vienna.
Also known as WhiteBIT EU · WhiteBIT UK
The short answer
It offers spot, margin and futures trading in more than 360 assets, with a flat 0.1% spot fee as of October 2026. The key point for a new user is which WhiteBIT they are signing up to: the MiCA licence covers WB-Shields Innovations GmbH and its whitebit.eu platform, while the global whitebit.com service is run by a group of companies in other countries and excludes US residents.

What WhiteBIT is and who owns it
WhiteBIT is an order-book exchange for spot, margin and futures trading, with buy-with-card, conversion, lending and automated investing products around it. It was founded in 2018 and describes itself as the largest European exchange by traffic, a company claim without a stated source. Its about page lists more than 360 assets, over 1,020 trading pairs, eight fiat currencies and an average daily volume of $3.4 billion, none of them dated.
The exchange belongs to W Group, whose founder and president, Volodymyr Nosov, is quoted on WhiteBIT's own pages. W Group also owns Whitepay (crypto payment processing), Whitechain (an EVM-compatible blockchain), white.market (a marketplace for game skins) and Coinomist (a news site). The group's customer count appears as more than 40 million on the about page and more than 35 million in a June 2026 press release; the exchange's blog cites 8 million or more users for WhiteBIT itself. The team describes itself as Ukrainian, and WhiteBIT has worked with Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and donated to the UNITED24 fundraising platform.
WhiteBIT is privately held and does not publish accounts. It is known for sports sponsorship, naming Juventus, FC Barcelona, the Ukrainian national football team, Visa and the esports platform FACEIT as partners.
Which WhiteBIT company you are dealing with
WhiteBIT runs separate platforms for separate regions, and the protection a customer gets depends on which one they use.
- European Economic Area: WB-Shields Innovations GmbH, trading as WhiteBIT EU, was authorised under MiCA by Austria's FMA on 18 June 2026. ESMA's register lists custody, exchange of crypto for funds and for other crypto, placing, and transfer services, passported to 28 other EEA countries; WhiteBIT's announcement says Malta is excluded. Those services are delivered through whitebit.eu, a separate platform the company was preparing to launch in June 2026.
- Global platform (whitebit.com): the user agreement defines the operator as the WhiteBIT Group, listing companies in Lithuania, Poland, Bulgaria, Australia, Georgia, Hong Kong, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Panama, Switzerland, Argentina and Brazil. Fiat operations are the responsibility of WB Technologies AG in Zug, a VQF-supervised Swiss financial intermediary. The agreement does not name a single counterparty for crypto balances.
- United Kingdom: whitebit.uk is a separate platform with its own contact addresses. Its financial promotions were approved on 7 May 2026 by a separate firm, Zeyro LTD (FRN 1001386). We did not find a WhiteBIT company of its own on the FCA register.
- United Arab Emirates: WB Fintech Development FZE received in-principle approval from Dubai's VARA on 13 October 2026. WhiteBIT's own announcement says this does not yet allow it to operate or serve clients there.
- United States: the global user agreement excludes US citizens and residents and US-owned companies. WhiteBIT's October 2026 announcement says it operates a local platform in the US; we could not confirm one serving customers.
WhiteBIT fees
WhiteBIT charges a flat 0.1% on both maker and taker spot orders, though the fee page warns that some pairs differ. Futures cost 0.01% for makers and 0.055% for takers, with the taker fee capped at 0.055%. Borrowed funds for margin trading carry a daily fee of 0.0585%, reduced for holders of the exchange's WBT coin. A VIP programme offers lower rates to larger traders; its tiers are on a separate page.
Crypto deposits are free for most assets. Withdrawal fees are set per asset and network and can change without notice; the table shows a sample as of October 2026. The Lightning Network option for bitcoin charges a percentage instead of a fixed amount.
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Spot trading (maker / taker) | 0.1% / 0.1% |
| Futures (maker / taker) | 0.01% / 0.055% |
| Margin and borrow, daily | 0.0585% |
| Crypto deposit | Free (most assets) |
| BTC withdrawal (Bitcoin network) | 0.00009 BTC |
| BTC withdrawal (Lightning) | 0.15%, max 0.00009 BTC |
| ETH withdrawal (ERC-20 / Arbitrum) | 0.0003 ETH / 0.00005 ETH |
| SOL withdrawal | 0.001 SOL |

WBT, the WhiteBIT coin
WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) is the exchange's own token. Holding it reduces the cost of borrowed funds for margin trading and borrowing, and WhiteBIT runs a WBT programme of holder benefits and a product called WBT Soul. Like any exchange token, its value depends on the exchange's business; it is not a claim on customer assets or on W Group's equity.
WhiteBIT also sells gift cards and redeemable codes (WB Codes) that move balances between accounts through the account. These are internal transfers between WhiteBIT accounts, so a code is only as good as the account system that honours it.
Is WhiteBIT safe?
WhiteBIT has no publicly reported hack, insolvency or withdrawal freeze that we found in news and regulator searches in October 2026. The company says it keeps 96% of assets in cold wallets, uses a web application firewall, screens deposits with outside anti-money-laundering providers, and was audited by the security firm Hacken; the audit date and scope are not given on the about page. It runs a bug bounty and a public status page.
WhiteBIT does not link a proof of reserves from its website, and we did not find a published reserve report or wallet list. Cold-storage percentages and security audits describe how assets are protected, not whether liabilities are fully covered. Our guide on checking whether an exchange holds your money sets out what evidence to ask for.
The user agreement says withdrawals may be temporarily restricted for maintenance, liquidity adjustments or risk management, and that WhiteBIT is not liable for losses from phishing or unauthorised use of a customer's login. MiCA adds client-asset and conduct rules for whitebit.eu accounts; those rules do not extend to accounts on whitebit.com. How WhiteBIT's record compares with other venues is covered in our exchange comparison.
Getting started and withdrawing
Opening an account takes an email, a password and identity verification. The user agreement allows one account per person and lets WhiteBIT ask for source-of-funds documents at any time. Funding is by crypto deposit, card, or the fiat rails processed through WB Technologies AG; UK users on whitebit.uk can fund in pounds.
Withdrawals go to an external address from the account balance. Each asset has a minimum, and some networks are marked not available on the fee page at any given time, so check the network before sending. Traders weighing the global platform against other offshore venues with a similar range of altcoins often look at Bybit and OKX.
Support and official channels
Support runs through the help centre and request form, with email at [email protected], and separately [email protected] for the UK platform. The company publishes a community and channel verification page for checking whether a Telegram group or social account is really WhiteBIT's. Official accounts linked from the site are on X (@WhiteBit), Telegram and LinkedIn. Travel-rule queries go to [email protected].

Questions people ask
Is WhiteBIT MiCA licensed?
Its EU company is. WB-Shields Innovations GmbH, trading as WhiteBIT EU, appears in ESMA's register as authorised by Austria's FMA on 18 June 2026, with passporting to 28 other EEA countries. The authorisation covers services provided through whitebit.eu. Accounts on the global whitebit.com platform are operated by other group companies outside the EU and are not covered by it.
Can US residents use WhiteBIT?
Not the global platform. WhiteBIT's user agreement bars citizens and residents of the United States, and companies whose capital is owned by US persons. The company has said it operates a local US platform, but we could not confirm one open to customers in October 2026, so a US resident should not open a whitebit.com account.
Where is WhiteBIT based?
There is no single headquarters. The MiCA-authorised EU entity is at Stella-Klein-Löw-Weg 8 in Vienna, the Swiss fiat entity is in Zug, and the user agreement lists group companies in Lithuania, Poland, Hong Kong, Georgia, Panama and elsewhere. The team behind it describes itself as Ukrainian.
How do I spot fake WhiteBIT accounts?
Check any Telegram group, social profile or support contact against WhiteBIT's community and channel verification page before replying. Support works through the help centre and the whitebit.com or whitebit.uk email domains. WhiteBIT's terms state that its staff cannot see your login credentials, so anyone asking for a password or two-factor code is not WhiteBIT.
