Magic Eden

Magic Eden is an NFT marketplace and wallet app best known for Solana, with a 2% trading fee, optional royalties, collectible packs and the ME token.

Also known as Magic Eden Marketplace · ME

The short answer

As of October 2026 its own help center lists Solana as the supported chain for NFT transactions, and a June 2026 notice says Ethereum and Bitcoin marketplace surfaces and the Magic Eden Wallet are being deprecated. Anyone holding assets through Magic Eden on those chains should read the migration guides first. Staking ME now earns a share of protocol revenue paid in USDC, under rules the company says may change.

What Magic Eden is

Magic Eden built its marketplace around Solana and later added Bitcoin Ordinals and Runes and several EVM chains; DefiLlama's listing still names a dozen networks. Alongside the marketplace it runs a wallet app, a launchpad for new collections and the ME token. Its help center today groups the business into a marketplace for buying, selling and bidding on NFTs and tokens, the Magic Eden app (mobile and browser extension), a Creator Hub and launchpad for collections, and a Play and Earn section with collectible packs and the Magic Eden Rewards program.

That footprint is shrinking. A help-center notice dated 30 June 2026 says Magic Eden is making updates to certain marketplace services, APIs and wallet products, including deprecated EVM and Bitcoin surfaces and the deprecation of the Magic Eden Wallet and Account Wallets, with a guide to exporting private keys and migrating. The help center's chain-support page, updated in March 2026, lists only Solana for NFT transactions. The detailed timeline sits on Magic Eden's main help center, which blocked automated access when we checked, so confirm the current dates there before relying on any product other than the Solana marketplace.

The legal entity behind magiceden.io could not be confirmed for this profile: its Terms of Service page sits behind a bot check that we did not bypass. Magic Eden does not name its founders or executives in the help-center pages we could open.

How trading on Magic Eden works

On the Solana marketplace you connect a wallet, such as the Magic Eden app, Phantom or MetaMask, and buy listed NFTs, list your own or make offers on a single item, a whole collection or a trait. Magic Eden also runs AMM pools for Solana NFTs, an aggregator that pulls in listings from other venues, and support for SPL tokens and Solana inscriptions. Some collections can be bought with a card through Crossmint.

Packs are a newer product. You buy a pack, Magic Eden's back end runs an off-chain random draw, and you receive an NFT from a Solana or Ethereum collection, or, in Pokémon packs run with Collector Crypt, a token for a graded physical Pokémon card that can be redeemed and shipped. For 72 hours after opening you can sell a card back for a set share of its estimated fair market value: 85% on $25 and $50 packs, 90% on $250 packs and 93% on $1,000 packs. The outcome is random and the sell-back price is below market value, so packs work more like a prize draw than a purchase.

03

Magic Eden fees and royalties

Magic Eden takes 2% on all transactions, according to its fee article updated in March 2026, and charges nothing to list. Royalties on Solana are optional for collections that have not adopted Metaplex's MIP-1 standard: the buyer picks none, half or full royalty, with full as the default, and pays it on top of the listing price. The seller receives the list price minus the platform fee. Collections that enforce royalties on-chain get them in full.

On top of these, every Solana transaction carries a small network fee, and card purchases through Crossmint or MoonPay carry the provider's charges. For how this fee level sits beside other NFT venues, see how Magic Eden compares with other NFT marketplaces.

The ME token, staking and governance

ME is a Solana token. As of October 2026 CoinGecko shows about 621 million ME circulating out of roughly 1 billion, and a market capitalization near $39 million. The help center describes it as the official token adopted by Magic Eden.

Staking is the main use. You lock ME for a period you choose, and longer lockups earn a multiplier on your staking power; you cannot withdraw before the stake end date. A June 2026 help article says Magic Eden Rewards now pays stakers USDC from what it calls protocol revenue. Each month's pool is shared in proportion to staking power measured at a snapshot before the month starts, a stake must stay locked through the whole month to qualify, and claimable rewards expire 90 days after they become available. The article does not explain how that revenue is measured, and says the program's mechanics may change.

Staking power also serves as voting power. Proposals are drafted on a Discourse forum and then voted on-chain in the Rewards dashboard, with pass thresholds set per proposal (the help center gives 60% as an example).

05

Who can use Magic Eden

Browsing and trading require only a compatible wallet. Restrictions apply to particular features rather than the whole site, according to a help-center list last updated in June 2025. MoonPay card purchases are unavailable in 51 countries and territories, including China, Japan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia and Ukraine, and MoonPay sales are unavailable in Louisiana, New York and Texas. In-app swaps are blocked in a similar list that adds Iceland and Malta. The mobile app cannot be downloaded in about 100 countries and territories, and is unavailable on iOS in the United Kingdom, though the browser extension still works there. The marketplace Terms of Service could not be opened, so any wider exclusions are not covered here.

06

Security and custody

Magic Eden's marketplace is non-custodial for ordinary trades: NFTs stay in your wallet until a sale settles. Solana listings and offers can use escrow programs, and funds placed in AMM pools are held by those programs until you withdraw. DefiLlama counts about $144,000 in Magic Eden's contracts as of late October 2026.

The Magic Eden app's embedded wallet is seedless and tied to an email, Google or Apple sign-in, and the help center says you can export the Solana or EVM private key at any time. That export matters now that the wallet is being deprecated. Magic Eden does not publish audit reports or a bug bounty program in the help-center pages we could open. Its status page tracks the website, API and a dedicated Solana RPC, and showed no incidents in the two weeks to 25 October 2026. We found no exploit of Magic Eden contracts in DefiLlama's hacks database.

07

Getting out: moving assets and closing positions

Before leaving, cancel listings and offers, withdraw SOL or NFTs from any AMM pool, and claim staking rewards within their 90-day window; staked ME stays locked until the stake end date. If you use the Magic Eden Wallet or an Account Wallet created through Magic Eden, export the private key from Settings, then Backup, and import it into another wallet before the deprecation deadline set out in Magic Eden's migration guide. Our article on common seed phrase and key mistakes covers safe storage once you have the key.

08

Magic Eden support and official accounts

Support runs through the help center and a live chat widget on the site. Magic Eden's list of official X accounts is @MagicEden, @MagicEdenComm, @MagicEdenOnSOL, @MEonBTC, @MEonEVM and @MEonMonad, plus LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Discord and a blog. The help center warns against phishing emails and fake sites aimed at app users; No genuine support agent needs your recovery phrase or private key, so treat any request for one as a scam.

Questions people ask

Is Magic Eden shutting down?

No, but it is narrowing. A June 2026 help-center notice describes deprecating Ethereum and Bitcoin marketplace surfaces, some APIs and the Magic Eden Wallet, while the Solana marketplace, packs and the ME rewards program remain. If you use those deprecated products, follow Magic Eden's migration guide and export your keys before the stated deadline rather than waiting for the app to stop working.

Can I still trade Bitcoin Ordinals or Ethereum NFTs on Magic Eden?

Treat that as uncertain. Magic Eden's March 2026 chain-support page lists only Solana for NFT transactions, and its June 2026 notice describes EVM and Bitcoin surfaces as deprecated. The detailed article with exact dates is on Magic Eden's main help center. Check it, or Magic Eden's @MEonBTC and @MEonEVM accounts, before listing anything on those chains.

What does staking ME pay?

Stakers share a monthly pool of USDC drawn from Magic Eden's protocol revenue, in proportion to their staking power at a snapshot taken before each month. Magic Eden does not publish the size of the pool or how revenue is measured, and its estimates are labelled informational and not guaranteed. Rewards must be claimed within 90 days or they expire.

Does Magic Eden pay creator royalties?

On Solana, only as much as the buyer chooses, unless the collection enforces royalties on-chain under MIP-1. The default setting is full royalty, but buyers can switch to half or none at the account level, and the choice then applies across collections. Creators who want guaranteed royalties need to mint under a standard that enforces them.
